//A 21-year-old student, who landed from Spain in Delhi on Monday, told TNM that she was first asked to wait at the Delhi airport for three hours without food and water. The airport staff was rude to her and allegedly said to her, “Stay away from us, you are all going to die.” The student, who had gone to Spain for an exchange programme, told TNM that she and other students who were with her were taken from the airport by bus to an isolation ward in Narela, on the outskirts of Delhi, which was also very unsanitary. “The toilet was dirty, there was no electricity or water…when we asked for water, they told us, 'go drink from the tap’,” she told TNM. She added that she has no symptoms but no tests were conducted on her or any of her fellow students.//
Are unsanitary conditions making people run away from COVID-19 wards?
People often ask me, “Why is there always violence in Jerusalem?” and I always say the same thing: that as crazy as it sounds, it’s really about love. I’m not being glib. Jews, Muslims, and Christians love this city so deeply that they are willing to die for it.
Indeed, to understand the deep-seated protectiveness Christians, Muslims, and Jews feel for Jerusalem, you need look no further than the ladder that stands beneath a window in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It was left there in the eighteenth century by a mason who was doing restoration work on the church. And these are just Christians fighting among themselves. Throw Jews and Muslims into the mix, and you’ve got a city that is always teetering on the razor’s edge of calamity. And from calamity comes violence. And from violence comes death.
